The case for boring typography

·

Deep teal gradient study

Every site that looks expensive is doing less than you think with type.

Two voices are enough

One face with character for headings, one that disappears for text. A third family almost always signals that a decision was avoided rather than made.

A scale you cannot break

Eight sizes, each a fixed step from the last, all fluid between phone and desktop. When there is no arbitrary size available, pages stay in tune with each other automatically.

The discipline is the design. Once the scale is set, choosing a size stops being a judgement call and becomes a decision about hierarchy — which is the only thing it should ever have been.
